I had the pleasure of working on an all original 1965 Fender Mustang in Dakota Red. What a great guitar to work on! This guitar just needed to be set up for some heavier gauge strings due to the Fender Mustang’s shorter scale length of only 24 inches. Everything went great, and now plays amazing for a 50+ year old instrument. A quick adjustment of the neck relief via the truss rod, action adjustment and intonation adjustment got this instrument exactly where it needed to be! Not only that, funny enough, there was NO ground in this guitar AT ALL. So to fix this, I simply grounded the bridge to the control plate using a small bit of old guitar string. Ensuring that vintage originality is maintained while fixing a ground hum was the right choice here!
